Production notes
Lucullus is the Cuvée d'Exception of Château Hostens-Picant. This is a plot selection oriented towards the best plots of limestone in the vineyard. It is present in many places of excellence. Vinification in wooden vats of 65 hectolitres. Malolactic fermentation in barrels and aging in barrels for 12 to 15 months.
Tasting notes
The nose offers a remarkable complexity, with notes of wild blackberry, cassis, liquorice but also after a few minutes of aeration aromas of peony and black olives. The mellow attack precedes a dense and full mid-palate typical of the vintage wines. Its tannic frame reveals coated chalky tannins and a delicious saline finish typical of the great limestone terroirs. Its potential of guard is of a good twenty years.
